Is it possible to Paint over wallpaper or is it necessary re-papering?

by emmaw6481 » Sat Jun 06, 2009 8:58 am

Hi All

I'm new to this so please bear with me.

We are wanting to decorate my daughters bedroom and it currently has floral wallpaper. The paper is in good condition but the joins are quite prominent.

My question is:

Do we smooth out the joins somehow and paint over the paper and if so what is the best way to do this?

OR

Do we go to the expense and hassle of stripping it all and re-papering?

Also I'm 7 1/2 months pregnant and am looking for the quickest and simplest way to do this.

I'd really appreciate your help
Many Thanks
Emma

emmaw6481,
If the joins are prominent because they overlap you will have little option but to paint over the joins.
If the joins are prominent because they do not overlap use some flexible decorators filler to conceal the joins and over-paint.
end
