As bd3c suggests you could cut equal amounts of each side, as it is a modern door the edge strips are unlikely to be more than 25mm thick so you may have to reinstate both edges - depends how much you need to cut off.
Unless you like the idea of making good two edges I would put up with the door looking off centre - cut off the edge with the lock block in it. The bit you cut off will have the face panels still glued to it and it is these you need to trim off so the edge trim will fit back into the gap between the facing panels.
