Painting laminate floor beading

by izbiz » Sun Jun 14, 2009 9:49 pm

We've got laminate floor in our living room and dining room, 10 years old and still going strong. However, I need to repaint our skirting boards. I've always hated our laminate beading, which is the same colour as the floor, and have always wished we got white to match the skirtings, not beech coloured to match the floor.

Is it possible to paint the beading at the same time as the skirtings? I am nervous about starting this, because then I'll have to do the lot. Presumably I'll have to sand it all, to get a key. Is there such thing as a "sanding solution" or primer that can just be painted on? Or should I leave well alone, mask the beading and just paint the skirting?

izbiz,
If the beading is wood with coloured varnish then paint as you would any other varnished wood. If it is the plastic skinned stuff then mask it out.
