Outside light switch and lights

by ronecc » Sun Jun 21, 2009 12:52 pm

I am fitting a waterproof light switch to two exterior lights. My switch has three terminals numbered, L, 1 and at the bottom 2. All my wires are brown, blue and yellow/green. Which go where?

Have you contacted building controls as this work comes under part p of building regs, or is this replacing an old switch?

Brown to L, blue to either 1 or 2: if incorrect switch will be upside down. You may find marked on the switch" for 1 way use 1 or 2, if so follow that instruction.
Blue should be sleeved/flagged as a brown.
green/yellow in a dummy terminal, which may be in the mounting box.
