grout on glass mosaic tiles

Post by sarahjbingham » Sat Jun 20, 2009 9:05 am

we have tiled the bathroom with glass mosaic tiles but the grout has gone into very tiny holes in the surface of the tiles and we cannot get it out. any suggestions apart from picking it out with a pin would be really helpful!

sarahjbingham,
Depends on the type of grout you have used, if its ready mixed you will have to do the pin out job. If it was one based on cement you may find a cement/brick cleaner will do the job but do check on a small area first.

The trick with pitted tiles (and also a must with natural stone) is to seal the tiles or cover them with a grout release product BEFORE grouting. Unfortunately the grout in your pitted glass tiles may just be there to stay.

Sorry not to be of more help.

Cheers

thanks. it wasn't ready mixed so might look at that. i wish the tile place had mentioned this and we would have been better prepared. could be a long summer with my little pin! thanks.
