Waste from sink and washing machine to waste downpipe adjust

by Chiggs » Sat Jun 20, 2009 8:59 pm

Have waste pipes from sink and washing machine (in kitchen) draining to a downpipe in 2nd floor flat (built ~ 1970s). Downpipe is located in corner. Appears to be 80mm diameter. We need to lower both drains (from sink and washing machine) and therefore connector to downpipe (for new kitchen). Any ideas on how to change and adjust fittings to downpipe, and where to get the necessary fittings?

Thanks for the help

You don't mention the most important part which is what the waste downpipe is made from. Iron, plastic, asbestos or galvanised? Anything other than plastic is difficult to connect to!

Also.... if not already plastic - I would consider changing it to plastic, quite cheap, easy enough job and looks better (my opinion).
