Bricking up old chimney brest

by Rastanking » Tue Jun 23, 2009 2:41 pm

Hi everyone,

I'm in the process of renovating my house and I have a chimney brest that isn't used any more.

I have been told that it needs to have an air vent in the chimney brest after bricking it up, is this correct?

To me it seems pointless to let cold air in and warm air out, does anyone know any different?

Regards

Andy

Rastanking,
If you do not ventilate the chimney it will give you damp problems unless you take it down below roof level.

end[/quote] I have been reading your advice on chimney-breasts. What would be entailed in removing a chimney-breast in a groun-floor room?
Thanks.
