by JimmyG » Mon Jun 22, 2009 6:55 pm

Someone told me that if a garage has been built more than 5 years
ago without planning permission it doesn't need it ... is this correct ??
It was built as a lean to on the back of the property .

There is 5 year time limit for commencing work after PP has been granted.

Residential Building and engineering works are lawful after 4 years without enforcement action, for all other uses its 10 years. There is no time bar on listed building alterations.

Please don't let this knowledge encourage anyone to go into a breach of planning scenario!!!

Cheers
