I'm thinking of installing humidity controlled extractor fans in two bedrooms to solve a damp problem... Please could someone give me their experiences/thoughts on whether this will help as this is a large piece of work to undertake.

Ps. I have pursued all other options, with a floor standing dehumidifier as the only other solution.

damp is a different problem to humidity/condensation.Which do you have?
I would not install humidity controlled extractors in a bed room as they come on at random in the night.
I would also doubt that you are producing enough humidity in bedrooms to cause a problem. If you problem is indeed humidity, and not damp, I would suggest that you try to eliminate the problem at source. Most likely locations are, kitchen. bathroom/shower.
