How can I remove a bath tap cartridge when the nut is worn ?

by villa82 » Thu Jul 23, 2009 11:58 pm

Hello.

Can anybody please tell me how I can remove a bath tap cartridge which after repeated failed attempts to move now has a very torn hexagonal nut ?

The nut is made of a very soft metal and has been torn and shredded by various spanners and wrenches.

I have tried using WD40 but have not been able to shift it.

Any advice would be appreciated !

If its already knackered then theres no reason not to knacker if further to get it out as you are going to replec it.

Use a pair of these http://www.awin1.com/awclick.php?mid=12 ... l&ts=13559

and it doesn't matter if they are that tight they bite into the metal. They probably will have to to get a grip.

As rosebery says....

No other way if the nuts that far gone. If they don't work you could try abit heat.
