The minimum distance between external ground level and the dpc is 150mm. Why is this figure adequate?

It is adjudged to be the maximum distance rain will splash up after hitting the ground and if there is a flood next to your house and the water is flowing at more than 150mm deep the DPC on the house would be the very last of the worries!
