just in the process of buying a house, when we first looked at it there was no damp patches (the house has been DPC'd and redecorated to a high standard about 18 monhs ago) however just looked again (1 month later) and there are damp patchs in 3 or 4 places, low down and spreading up. We asked the original contractor to re-inspect as we wanted the problem sorted out before we exchanged. They said the DPC hadnt failed and that the patches were just condensation because the property had stood empty for 18 months. Once we were in and the heating was on they said the problem would go away, if not then the would come back and re-do the DPC.
my question is this.....are they just trying to fob me off or is their explanation likely??
