Removal of lid of push button cistern All aspects of plumbing questions and answers, help, tips and information

My toilet is constantly running - had a look at your tips regarding push button cisterns but I can't lift the lid of my cistern at all to get in to unscrew the push button. Help!!!

If it doesn't simply unscrew to allow the lid to be removed you have to prise out the two buttons in the centre to gain access to the fixing screw below.

Push and hold down one button which should reveal a slot in the side of the remaining button. Use a screwdriver in the groove to gently prise out the button.
