need a bit of guidance please regarding cable connections to above fan the existing cable are green/yellow, brown and blue. The fan is marked neutral=line 1 switched live= line2 permanent live=line 3. It is a pull cord switch linked with the lights.

This simply means you have bought a fan with a delay timer - so you can turn it off, and it will run for perhaps 15 to 20 mins to clear the air.

Brown is live, blue is neutral, green/yellow is earth.
To obtain the benefit of the time lag delay - you need another live feed that by passes the light switch (if that's where you are feeding from)
I prefer to have a pull switch fitted in the delay feed so I can turn the fan off, when the light is required but not the fan.
