What sort of board is this

by Zombies » Thu Sep 10, 2009 8:18 pm

First post of many (probably)

Am renovating a property, previous owner had died and been in the house about 30 years or so.

I'm removing old plasterboards to insulate, these are in a ground floor extension (old) but do have some wires behind and believe it to have been rewired in the last ten years.

The boards look to have a concrete type of substance and crumble easily when pulling the boards off, I first thought before removing these that they were asbestos but not sure now.

Any thoughts?

More information needed, photos etc.
They could be asbestos. I would have it checheckked out.
Maybe get a building control officer round. They are most helpful.

It could be an aquapanel board, is it in a bathroom or a wet area?
If its not then I've come across really old plasterboards that crumble and are very hard due to age, always wear a mask anyway.

Thanks for replies

I've binned most of it, it was a mix of 12.5mm and something about half that which was the usual plaster

Do have some more to remove though, not a great deal, thinks its concrete tbh
