i have been told i need a indirect pumped cylinder for the hot water.but on looking for one i can not find any refrence to pumped or non pumped cylinders, just direct and indirect.so can someone explain whether all indirect cylinders are by default pumped or what??

The difference between fully pumped and gravity tanks is the internal heating coils are different diameters. Gravity coils were 28mm (1") now I think all tanks are 22mm which is ideal for fully pumped although 28mm can be used - you just need different couplings.
