I have moved into a house built in 1896 and the survey pulled up some slight damp.
The owner said he had a damp course and had a 25 year guarantee.

The hosue sale went through and we noticed the damp was getting worse so we called out the company and he said because work had been done (putting in a fire both front and back rooms and some opatio doors) the guarantee was null and void.

I am curious if anyone had ever heared anything like this?

I dont know which way to turn.

Get a copy of the guarantee and see what the terms are.
If the damp problems are in areas where building work has not been carried out suggest to the company rep that he might like another look.

It sounds like you may have a case to certainly question the opinion of the damp company the has advised you that your guarantee is now null and void. It might be an idea for you to find out if the contractor that originally installed your damp proof course is a member of the PCA (Property Care Association - the governing body for all damp contracotrs). If so, contact the PCA and seek advice as to how to best approach the situation.
