Filling a large hole

by Dragon 99 » Tue Sep 08, 2009 12:33 pm

Ooo-err missus etc.....

Ladies and gents, some advice is required please.

One of the brackets holding up a radiator in the hallway started to come away from the wall over the weekend, the result of a 3 1/2 year old hanging off it  . To avoid the whole thing falling off, I closed off the valves and took the radiator off the wall.

The plaster where the bracket was screwed into the wall has come away in a nice, neat 'plug', leaving a rather large hole in the wall that is clearly too big to fill with polyfilla. Plastering over the hole isn't a problem, question is, what should I fill the hole with so I can plaster over the top of it and then screw the bracket back onto the wall ?

Any helpful advice is muchly appreciated. Ta.

One coat plaster is ideal for medium size holes and it sets pretty hard too
