Differences between built in and built under gas ovens

by Rastanking » Sat Sep 19, 2009 9:10 am

Hi everyone,

I've been trying to find out the difference between built in and built under gas ovens. I am looking for a single gas oven/grill to be built under my worktop.

What are the differences between the two, if any, and can built in ovens be fitted underneath worktops?

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks in advance

Same thing as far as I'm aware, you will need an oven housing to put the oven in though.

Built under appliances may be designed to sit on the floor with part of the appliance hidden behind the plinth. This would look odd if installed at a higher level.

Built in appliances may be designed to sit fully in a housing which may be too tall to fit under a worktop.

Check dimensions carefully.

'built in' in this context would refer to an oven incorporated into a tall cabinet so the oven door would be at around chest height.

built under will be an incorporated oven under the worktop, could be floor standing or completely inside cabinet housing.
