Tiles in Bathroom have come apart & uneven

by pbooks » Fri Oct 16, 2009 12:06 am

Please can anyone help as over the last few weeks I have noticed that the tiles covering pipes (boxing them in) running from toilet have gradually come apart undoing grout area seal joining them & come uneven. By this I mean where they were in a square & covering the toilet refuse pipe, now is split & crooked at the top where the grouted part was (at the corner of the two adjoining tiles.

I have recently noticed that there is water leaking from near cistern, but this was after I noticed tiles coming apart.

I was worried that this could be caused by some kind of subsidence as I do sometimes feel very slight tremors in the house.
Please can anyone assist, as I don’t even know whom to turn to?

Subsidence unlikely cause. If you have noticed water leaking somewhere this is the most likely cause, as tile cement is not waterproof.
Probably the water has penetrated the boxing material and loosened the tiles.
Remove loose tiles, fix leak, and go from there
