Constant or twice a day?

There are 2 adults and 2 children in our house, just want to know whether it's better to leave the hot water on constant or have it on a few hours in the morning and a few hours in the evening.

I would have it on twice a day, as the tank/cylinder should retain the heat for use during the day.
