Ceramic Disc Inserts

by drayja » Wed Jan 06, 2010 2:54 pm

Can anyone advise where I could purchase ceramic disc inserts?

My mixer tap is leaking at the hot water side!!! It is getting progressively worse and is a constantly stream. A plumber advised that I would need to buy a new one and have it fitted as the discs cannot be replaced!!!

In order to replace the mixer tap my kitchen needs to be pulled apart - a corner section would have to be taken out to get near the sink unit and the taps - it is no easy job!!

Also - would the constant leaking hot water cause my central heating boiler to need topped up all the time? or could it be the fact that the reason the water pressure drops means I have a leak in the central heating pipework?

I'd be grateful for some helpful advice?

"Can anyone advise where I could purchase ceramic disc inserts?"

You can't you have to replace the cartridge.

"A plumber advised that I would need to buy a new one and have it fitted as the discs cannot be replaced!!!"

He meant you have to replace the whole cartridge not the complete tap.

"would the constant leaking hot water cause my central heating boiler to need topped up all the time?"

Possibly if the diverter valve is letting by.

Cheers
