Hot water?

hot water is coloured (redish) cold ok.have run off hot but still alittel coloured .. no work has been done on the hot water or any thing else??

have you got an old metal cold tank feeding your hot water system? these old tanks are prone to rust. it could be yours has reached the terminal stage. have a look. you'll probably be disgusted by what you see anyway - that's why never drink the cold water from the tank!! - or the hot water fed by the cold tank. :shock:
time to replace with a nice plastic one.

could also be a corroded coil in your hot water cylinder letting heating fluid into the hot water supply.

do as slapdash suggests and clean out the cold water storage tank in the loft. that may cure the problem. if it doesn't then you'll probably need a plumber as the cylinder may well need replacing.
