Re using boss connections on soil pipe

by EXEXEC » Thu Jan 14, 2010 8:32 pm

My 40mm pvc solvent welded waste pipes from 2 baths connect at the same level to 2 bosses on my pvc soil pipe. The connectors at this end of the waste (90 deg and 135 deg) are close coupled right up to the boss (ie no straight pipe exposed to cut and connect to). I need to remove and re route the wastes but re connect to the same bosses on the soil pipe. Assuming that I cannot break the weld at the boss when removing the waste pipe, how can I re use the bosses on the soil pipe? There is no room for a strap boss and access is poor. I have looked for a coupler that would fit over the boss (as opposed to inside) and could be welded without success.

EXEXEC,
Cut out a section of soil pipe where the bosses are located and fit a new boss adaptor - you will need to use a sliding coupling to make the final join.
