insulating a garden shed

by rabbit » Mon Dec 21, 2009 2:48 pm

Hello, I have a large garden shed which I want to use for long-term storage of books. Because it is cold in the shed I am thinking of insulating it. What can I use as insulation material for floor, walls and roof?

Unless you have a heat source in the shed or solar gain, insulating will make little difference. Mineral wool is fire retardant, whilst polystyrene is a better insulator but nasty in a fire. Both should be covered with a foil backed plaster board, this should withstand more dampness than the books.
