Mains Electric shower All aspects of plumbing questions and answers, help, tips and information

I am in the process of plumbing an electric shower.
The best option I know is to run it off the mains.
I am thinking about connecting it to the rising main under the kitchen sink as it's so close.
My concern is if the cold water tap at the sink was used while shower was in use would it cause a problem, such as scalding.
My neighbour had a pump fitted (not to mains) and I was wondering if this might be the better option, though I'm wary of pump breakdown as I know little about them.

Depending on the area you live in? I personally wouldn't recommend an electric shower. But i live in the South east & the water is hard & ends up furring up the shower. This might not be a problem in other areas.
I have a 2 bar electric pump fitted & has been great for about 10 years. You can get them from 1 to 3 bar for most showers, & come in singe or twin impeller styles. But go for a good make like Grundfos or similar. Have a check around at some of the sheds like wicks as they was selling Grundfos pumps with a wicks label on them a year or two back at a very good price.
The other thing to watch out for is the type of mixer taps or shower unit as they have quite often got filters in that can really slow things down.
I ended up removing the filters on my one & all has been fine.

Thanks for the info and I will certainly keep your advice in mind regarding pump etc, in-case I have to go down that road.
