Hardwood Internal Door Threshold

by johnjoiner » Sat Jun 16, 2007 9:54 pm

Hi folks. We have a door between two areas that are not at same level as each other. One area is solid floor the other a suspended wood floor. The difference between the floor is aprox. one inch. The other doors opening into same suspended wood floor area have what appears to be a raised wood threshold from the bare wood floor. We would like to fit a bit of hardwood as the threshold for the problem door. What we need to know is (a) how do you fix the wood on to the wood/concrete join at the threshold and can you have the bit of wood machined to an exact slab thickness ?

Thanks in advance.

Hi, Measure up the length, width and thickness of the hardwood threshold strip you require and go to your local small joinery company, they should be able to machine out what you need. You can fix it down with a tube of no nails, you will need a mastic gun to apply this but they are not expensive to buy.

Thanks 'wack'. We did just that today. The joinery shop was really helpful.
