I want to add a new radiator to our existing system, (capacity permitting- seems to have enough spare though) which is a small bore pipe system with each radiator on its own pipe run.

My easiest option would be to add the new radiator to the pipe run of an existing radiator nearby, rather than the disruption of running a fresh pipe from the source.

My question is,
(1) Do I join the radiators in series or parallel. I suspect parallel is preferable so that each can be independently controlled. Is this possible/desirable/legal etc? I plan to fit a TRV to the new radiator.
and
(2) Is there a minimum distance which has to be observed between a radiator and an electrical socket?

If the pipework is anything smaller than 15mm then I wouldn't waste your time, you need to tee into either 15mm or 22mm for it work properly.

Might I also ask a follow up question, if you have any experience of running a vertical radiator ~1800mm tall x 400mm wide ~4500BTU off its own (!! - thanks) small bore pipe? The rad I have in mind has I believe a 'standard' large size connector, but presumably can be adapted with a suitable coverter. fitting this type of radiator is no different to fitting any other. It will weigh more than a conventional rad so you will have to consider how you will fix it to the wall.

All rad connections have 1/2" bsp threads so any standard radiator valve will fit. Depending where the feed comes from, you may need inline valves instead of right angled ones though.

As plumbbob says, you need a pair of 1/2" to 8mm/10mm valves (depending on you pipe size) - can be bought at any plumbers merchant etc.

You will require straight radiator valves though - not angled.
