My existing electrics consist of conduit cables within plastic mini trunking. I wish to re-locate some sockets on the ring main and will need to extend the cable (no more than 2m).
Is it accectable/safe to use the standard 2.5m2 twin/earth grey cable within a new section of trunking to extend this circuit.
I can only find conduit cable in trade drums of 50m min. - I only need a couple of metres!

Not enough data.
What size cable is used now.
How are the sockets earthed
What is the earth loop impedance.
What is the prospective short circuit current
Are the sockets RCD protected
What size disconnection device is used
If it uses an MCB what is the type number or letter

The list goes on and in practice one answer may answer enough to give you all the information you need.

For example if no RCD's are fitted answer is simple you can't extend without adding one.

Many thanks. I will need to establish the earth and prospective short circuit requirements, but I can confirm that:

Each cable of the ring circuit is 2.5mm single core PVC cable,
Each socket is earthed using 2.5mm single core PVC cable back to CU and earth terminal,
Sockets RCD protected at CU,
Circuit protected with 32A MCB,
MCB is by MEM and is a M6 Type 2.

Does this at all help to answer my query?
