adding RSJs to load bearing walls

by ten2ten » Mon Apr 12, 2010 11:25 pm

I have knocked down an interior wall 3.5mts long from front to back of a room 3.5mts.sq. Bungalow extension. I believe to be load bearing! it has 4x2 timbers running from side to side with a 6x2 above running front to back,on the 6x2 there are props birdmouthed up to pirlings in the roof! I know I can run an RSJ from front to back under the 4x2s to hold everything up! But can I put say 2@4x2 RSJs at intervals up in between the 4x2 timbers holding up the 6x2 ? so as to run flush with the ceiling!
