attaching ceramic tiles to a wooden surface

by LES EATON » Thu Apr 22, 2010 9:09 am

I am having problems fixing ceramic tiles to a wooden surface - not a good idea I know, but I have some piping in the bathroom that has been 'hidden' by a wooden surround and I'm trying to tile it to match the rest of the room.
I have given the wood a coat of PVA primer (1 part to 5 parts water) to seal it, but the ceramic tile fix doesn't hold - I'm thinking of using 'No More Nails' - or is there something else I can use.

LES EATON,
Try either tile fix designed for tiling on tiles or use a cementious based adhesive which incorporates latex (use for tiling on wood floors).

Fixing ceramic tiles to a wooden surface

Hi buddy,
You may just try some flexible adhesive to fix the ceramic tiles with wooden surface.
You may directly sheet the floor with plywood then plenty of fixings through ply into joist before laying tiles.

Thanks
Britt
