Mould on all external walls

by Molevision » Wed May 05, 2010 9:18 am

Hi, I live on the second floor of a 1960s build block of 16 flats and I have black mould on all external walls. This mostly appears from just above the floor line and below the ceiling line and in worst case extends toward the middle. I had anti-fungal paint applied in Nov and it re-appeared a month later. We have CWI recently which has slowed thing down a bit but it is becoming a big problem. Will ventilation alone deal with this or is there another solution please. Thanks. M

Mould Problem

From the sound of it yes good ventilation in the space will fix your problem. There are some interesting heat recovery units which could assist retrofitted into the space where no natural ventilation is present. Excessive moisture introduced like in areas where you are cooking or even drying clothes can cause mould problems. Good insulation that warms up areas of risk also assist in getting rid of the problem.

Hope that helps
