leaking shower attachment to mixer taps

by taniabaird » Wed Jun 20, 2007 9:35 pm

We have a leak from the bath/taps and i think it is from the shower even though i can see no logic in this. When you run the water into the bath its ok but if you swap to the shower it seems to create a leak under the bath that runs through to the kitchen. Have you got any ideas on what this might be? unfortunately its very difficult to investigate due to having no access panels.

Thanks :(

leaking shower attachment

The leak is obviously linked to the use of the shower. The water connections to the bath and shower are the same as is the waste outlet so these can be eliminated. My suspician is that the water is entering at the join between the top of the bath and the wall when the shower is being used. It then trickles down the wall behind the bath to the floor before making its way through to the kitchen. Such leaks are common as it is difficult to get a good seal around the bath edge. You could try running a bead of silicon mastic around the join. Good luck.
