CRACKED SHOWER TRAY - help.

by big gus » Thu May 27, 2010 2:41 pm

Any help on this appreciated.

There is a two inch crack in the bottom of our shower tray, shaped like a 'T'. Water dripping through the ceiling etc. We can't access the tray from outside. Can't replace the tray either as its a specific size which aren't available these days - and in any case, I'm currently skint.

Sooo - can I patch up the hole with something? Doesn't matter if its an ugly finish as we have a large shower mat that covers most of the tray. Have tried several things already, with no luck.

Somebody has suggested Fablon? Haven't tried that yet but we are now at our wits end.

Please help...

Hi Big Gus

You could try an epoxy resin such as araldite. Make sure the crack and local area is completely dry and push as much into the crack as possible, then form a seal above the crack about 8mm wide overall. I think that the resin is slightly flexible which should accommodate movement.

Good luck,

John

1. Replace the tray or;

2. Stop using the shower.

Cheers
