Sanded though real wood top layer and have chipboard patch!

by craigs » Mon Jun 21, 2010 12:32 pm

Can anybody help,
I have sanded through the real wood top layer of my wooden floor and now have a football sized patch of chipboard substrate visible. Is there anything I can do to fix / improve this? It's in a forunate position in that it will be behind a chair but is there anything I can do before I varnish the rest of the floor (which is 99% fine).
Can I apply some type of paint / wax to the chipboard patch before varnishing?
Would buying a coloured varnish help?
Any help would be much appreciated.
