We have a flat roof on a kitchen extension circa 1980. I know that most comments will be negative, but what would it take to turn it into a terrace?
There is an external window overlooking the roof top which could be replaced with a door for access onto the roof.
If reinforcing the roof is out of the question/budget/logic - would it be possible to create an enclosed metal structure over the top of the extension, using materials similar to an external retrospective fire escape.
On one side of the extension there is an 18 inch gap between our and neighbours extension, but the other side is flush with other neighbour - if that makes any difference.
