Decorating Plasterboard

by Seders » Fri Aug 21, 2009 8:13 pm

Hi I am getting a little confused with Plasterboard.
I have used 12.5 mm Knuaf wall board and was reluctantly planning to skim it myself after searching the net to see if I have to skim before painting the board. I had consulted a freind and he said that I should but when down the builders merchant today I was led to believe that you dont have to plaster the board and as long as you seal it you can paint it.

I would really apreciate any help with this matter and would be realy happy if I did not need to skim the walls but if I have to I'l have a go and see how it goes.
Thanks for your help in this matter

Seders,
If you have used taper edge boards you can get away with taping and plastering the joins and then paint. If you have used square edge boards you will not easily disguise the joins and skimming may be necessary.
end
