Hi and thanks in advance for your help.
A chap knocked our door and to cut a long story short he wanted to replace our facias, guttering etc with PVCU. After some negotiating as it is something we’ve been thinking about since moving in we agreed a healthy sounding sub £1000 figure to cover over the original wood. He also said he would replace any rotten wood he found. Now other than the price I want to give this guy the work because it sounded like it’s very much tough times out there currently, not to mention the price seemed just about affordable.
Then had a call from another company offering the same service so took up their offer of a quote, £8,500 down to £5,500, down to £3,250 to fully remove and replace all the wood. We also had a horror story about just covering the wood up so my questions are these:
If the wood is ok is it ever OK to cover it with PVCU?
Or should we not even consider it and replace the lot?
And under the new HIPS, is it effected if it’s covered up?
Thanks
