i don't see how you will need to pay double, as boiler prices are unlikely to rise that much, particularly at a time like this. Many merchants do offer discounts if you buy the boiler and flue together for example, maybe he is suggesting these offers could end? i don't know
As for a new boiler, i would agree with htg eng, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. However it will very much depend on your circumstances, such as if you are planning an extension, a system upgrade or concerns about the availbility of spare parts. What boiler do you currently have and what boiler or system is he suggesting you should get?
If you not planning any changes, the boiler is reliable and parts are still available, them stick with it.
