Hi All
Ive just found a bit of wet rot in a floor joist in my bathroom, its affected the one joist to a depth of maybe 30mm for about 10 inches from the wall to just behind the bath. Its dry as a bone now but I think the bath must have overflowed a few times on the carpet which we pulled out when we moved in, maybe 10 months ago. If it wasnt for the need to remove the flooboards ro rewire the kitchen it may never have been spotted as the flooboards look ok.
Question is do I need to cut away the whole of the damged joist back to the good bit and splice a new bit in or do I just need to cut back the top of the joist. Or is this a job that needs a specialist to look at?
Many Thanks.
