Cistern not filling up, help please!!!

by nicegirl » Fri Jul 23, 2010 12:49 pm

Hi,
Our en-suite toilet is a macerator and lately makes a lot of noise.
It's constantly filling but not filling up and therefore the pump starts and stops all the time....

I opened the lid yesterday, it's a straight forward push button one, to have a look.
The reason it fills so slowly is obvious, the water is spraying out like from a small water pistol, so would probably take hours to fill up completely. When I fiddled about, suddenly it started filling up like normal, but after I flushed, it was back to just spraying a tiny bit again.

Then there is a secondary problem too, there must be a leak somewhere coz the water doesn't stay in the cistern, but runs slowly into the bowl.

I've had the flusher unit out and it looks in perfect condition and seems to work as it should.

Any ideas?

nicegirl,
Good chance there is debris in the float valve, take it apart and clean it.
The plunger in the flush unit is not sitting on the sealing ring properly, take it out and clean this area.
end
