How to move socket to new position without horizontal wiring

by homeimprover » Sat Jun 23, 2007 12:51 pm

I want to move a socket to a new position about 1 metre horizontally. I realise you can't bury the cable in the wall horizontally, but above the socket is a window, and below is a solid floor. Should I bury the wire in the floor, if so, should I use armoured cable, or conduit?

Hi , you CAN bury cable in wall horizontally IF you either cover it with earthed metal conduit or capping (Not easy to earth), OR bury it more than 50mm below finished surface, OR if it is in a level line between other outlets.
These are Part P rules, so as long as not doing this in a kitchen you can DIY, regards SPARX
