Hi all, wondering if somebody might point me in the right direction, I have used the search facility but dont seem able to replicate my problem.
I am assembling a new floor joist layout to an extension and I am happy with Table A compliance for spans etc, however, adjacent to the house I have concrete "obstruction" that houses existing drainage etc, this will mean I have to form joists at right angles effectively creating a "trimmer" arrangement. I have no desire to install a steel beam at this point but if anyone is aware perhaps they could help by describing how I can calculate the size required of the joist I intend to come from. My own thoughts were that I might simply double up bolting a pair together using timber connectors etc, would this be sufficient?
Thanks
R
