Worried I've left too much of a gap of laminate flooring

by xgfx » Sun Jan 31, 2010 12:21 am

I've had a bit of trouble cutting the Ikea laminate flooring I've purchased. Even after getting a laminate saw. This has meant that I believe I've left more than the 8mm they suggest all around sides. I've left my current skirting board on, and was going to fit a scotia over the top, but want to make sure that boards won't slip. Should I use something to fill these gaps?

xgfx,
Reduce the gap on two sides by relaying the last piece you fitted - move the whole floor over. If the scotia moulding is large enough to cover the gap on the other two sides you will have to accept that you may have to reset the boards in the future.

New skirting can be 15mm thick; have you considered just replacing that?
