Water tank slight leak. Can't get lid off, push button top. All aspects of plumbing questions and answers, help, tips and information

Hi,

First time poster and know very little about plumbing.
My toilet has recently started leaking a little bit from the top of the water tank - small overflow.

From reading up I believe it might be the ball valve washer that needs replacing, but I can't even get into the cistern. I have a push button flush on the top of the lid, but tried screwing both ways and can't seem to loosen the flush.

Can anyone help with getting the lid off and potentially advising on how to fix the minor leak.

Try carefully levering up the push buttons - this may exposed the fixing screw.
