Painting on tiles

by mhairi » Thu Sep 16, 2010 6:40 pm

Hey all

Am decorating my bathroom on a tight budget. I need advice re my tiles. I don't really want to have them taken off, because am not sure what I'd find behind them and can't really afford to re-tile so can you paint over them? And if so, can you just use normal paint or do you have to get special tile paint? Sorry if this sounds like a silly question but am quite a beginner to decorating.....lol

Thanks in advance

There is a tile paint but as a decorator i would say no but if its just to clean it up then just gloss but it wouldnt be me tiles are non porous so paint doesnt take to it. It will stick but any scratch will take the paint off.
