How close to a butressing wall can a door be fitted

by goodwija1 » Fri Oct 22, 2010 9:28 am

Hi,
I am installing a new front door and have a pre 1920 solid blockwork construction ( external) wall that I need to make an opening in. The BI has suggested that I use an insulated lintel, my question is does anybody know if I can make the opening 9 inches from the outside corner of the front butressing wall and install the lintel on 150mm bearings in the side of the front wall, without damaging the structure of the house?

Thanks

I would say no.You need it 1metre away from the corner check with building control though...
