Should wooden worktops be in one piece with belfast sink Kitchens, doors, rails, stud, tables, chairs, stair cases, garden furniture etc... Find answers and ask questions here!

I have had a new kitchen fitted with wooden worktops and a belfast sink. The worktops are in two pieces with a"tap bar" joining them, should this not be one workshop with a space cut out for the sink?

I really don't like it and the kitchen compny have told me that this is the one they are normally fitted.

Hi Maggie,

Would it be possible for you to post a picture so we can be sure what your query relates to?

If it's what I think you mean ( a jointing strip ) butting the two pieces together, then IMHO it's a bodge job - most fitters will butt a joint using biscuits/glue to give a neat finish.

Hello Maggie.

Sounds like the kitchen company are trying to avoid extra work by just cutting two straight edges rather than routing out a sink cutout.

Is this more what you were thinking of:
