i am trying to replace a ceiling light switch in my bathroom,the very old switch has no markings at all,the new one has l1 l2 and com,there are 2 red wires 2 black wires and 2 earth wires coming from the ceiling,can someone please tell me where the red and black wires should go ?this switch also controls a fan.[/b]

Id recommened getting a qualfied sparky out to have a look. However Ive replaced a bathroom pull cord myself and as long as you change like for like you should have no problems.

Hi, the reds go to C & L1, either way round, (L2 not used), & the 2 blks go together in connector block.

Hi westie, there are only so many options to try.
the fan cannot be run from sw. as no neutral there, so assumed the wiring you have is one pair in from circuit & one pair out to light.
Hence my suggestion of linking N in to N out & Live in & L out thro' sw.
Try keeping blks in connector & put 2 reds in another, light should stay on.
if not then either no supply or bad connections, after that it's Get Someone In!
