Why can't a COMBI be used with a Hot Water Cylinder? I understand the fact that it my be unecessary to have Tank and Cylinder with a Combi and indeed that why we use Combi's. But the cylinder is only another heater/Radiator and can still be controlled by a Zone Valve. My Combi operates fine with room Zone Valves for parts of the house so why not a Cylinder. There are no safety issues and you can have your hot water storage for a power shower /bath and the Combi for heating and a second shower.

I can't say I have ever seen this done so, because it is not the norm, I guess nobody wants to be inventive.

Hi Htg Engineer

Chatting to my boiler service engineer I mentioned I was considering changing my Kingfisher II Boiler [Still working well] for a combi and he said he did not think you could use combi with a HW Cylinder which surprised me.

However, I am going to do it when the time comes to change my boiler.

As a matter of interest are spares for a Kingfisher II Boiler that hard to get? British Gas tells me they are!

Hi, we have done this method several times but always run hot water from combi to a local, often used tap to keep divertor etc exercised.
